Okay, Chris Rock. You made a documentary about black women’s hair. Sounds shallow enough, and pretty straight forward. It’s black, curly, and fun to touch.

There more to it, I guess. Rock goes into the meaning and strong market behind the products of black women’s hair, supported with interviews with certain celebrities (SALT N PEPA, ANYONE), and goes into what-the-fuck territory when he makes the claim that in India, hair is more profitable than gold.

I could say that the film is three stories in one. The first being the products, the second being the cultural meaning, and the third being this what-the-hell half-hearted story about four hair stylists training and eventually performing in the olympics of black hair.

Oh, and Paul Mooney.

Okay, so black hair is a multi-million dollar indusrty, and women can’t escape the weave. Rock valiantly points all of this out, his reason being he wanted to “know everything,” so he can make the decision of letting his two daughter go through with it (he also doesn’t give us a straight answer).

He also points out that in India, where most fake hair comes from, there’s a practice of people stealing women’s hair. Right.

Lucrative business, here I come!

So Chris Rock parades us around the whole hair culture, giving us no real message but lots of information. It’s like attending a lecture, and there’s no real meaning to it, you’re just supposed to be taking notes or something.

Of course he pulls in his star power hair specialists, such as the diet Wanda Sykes from grindhouse:

So in the end, the movie just feels like Chris Rock got a bunch of his friends together and said, “You know what, our hair is crazy, let’s make a movie about it.”

So we get a story about hair, the money wasted on it, and the advice to not travel to India because our hair might get stolen.

And Chris Rock looking pissed off at not being recognized at a hair convention.

Wait, what? People are getting all whine/cry over the beauty of a made up world. Always reporting the hard news, CNN reports the shit outta this.

James Cameron’s completely immersive spectacle “Avatar” may have been a little too real for some fans who say they have experienced depression and suicidal thoughts after seeing the film because they long to enjoy the beauty of the alien world Pandora.

Mmk. It’s a pretty 3D spectacle, but what the fuck guys. Suicidal thoughts? If I’d become suicidal, it definitely wouldn’t be over Pandora. I’d gett all herky-jerky sad over something like Willy Wonka’s factory. At least that shit is made of candy (and has a shit ton of midgets, I’d love to fuck me an orange midget woman).
